Flower Soft and Card Positioning Systems blog

This entire last week, Flower Soft has been the sponsor at Card Positioning Systems sketch blog. What that means is that some of the CPS gals were given some Flower Soft products to play with. If you take a peek at the whole weeks cards that were posted using this weeks sketch, you will see some pretty neat examples of using Flower Soft, both by the CPS team and by the Flower Soft team.
This is my card using the sketch. I wanted to find yet another fun way to use the Flower Soft so I punched a flower out of cardstock and went to work.
All I needed to do was to apply the Tacky glue to the outline of the punched out flower and then I added the yellow Flower Soft. The middle to my flower is a punched out circle and that is completely covered in Flower Soft. The scallop edges label piece is a downloadable piece from Flower Soft. It is one of the newer images that are meant to combine with the Spellbinder Nestabilities. I don't have this particular die so I cut my image out by hand. The yellow colors and the little flowers are already on the piece.

A nother new way to use Flower Soft

Hope you all enjoyed a wonderful weekend! I've used flower soft for flowers of course.....for feathers and fur, sand and snow!!! This week, I decided to use Flower Soft just to add some fun texture to this Halloween Card!!! There's absolutely no stamping required with this fun and funky card. I essentially filled in a Rub On (Boo) with Ultrafine Sage Card Soft.

You could recreate a similar card by hand drawing the lettering, printing a large sized font onto your cardstock, or using some jumbo letter stamps. I really liked the outcome of this card.

The Sketch I used this week is from The CPS Sketch Blog! Flower Soft is Sponsoring Sketch #77. You have until July 31st to load up your creations to get the opportunity to win some fun Prizes from Flower Soft. Click HERE for details and to upload your creation

Where else can you put Flower Soft?

If you have been following the Flower Soft blog and the Flower Soft TV episodes, you have gotten lots of ideas on how to use Flower Soft. I want to share an idea today that maybe you haven't thought of yet.
Adding Flower Soft to a silk flower. Silk flowers, all on their own, are a great accent to a card or scrapbook layout but how about a little extra pizzazz to that flower?
All I did was apply some of the Tacky Glue to portions of the flower that I wanted to use on this card and then I sprinkled on the Ultra Fine Flower Soft in Raspberry Fizz. It worked just the same as applying it to paper and I love the extra accents it added to my flower.
The background paper on my card is Core Amour cardstock by Core'dinations. It comes with the gray pattern on it and it also comes with an embossed design that just needs a little bit of sanding.
Be on the lookout for all of the interesting and fun ways that Flower Soft can add to a project.

Friends are the Flowers

Happy Friday!

Today's card shows how to make a 3-D flower center.

jms-cps157-friends-copy.jpg
I colored the flower twice with Copic markers and then cut and layered the flowers. I added Nut Brown Flower Soft and just a pinch of Toffee Ultra Fine Flower Soft for a highlight to the flower center. Close up of the flower:

Just a little bit is amazing!

You can use alot of Flower Soft to accent a card or you can use a little bit and still have a wonderful little accent.
For my card that I am going to share with you today, I used Ultra Fine Flower Soft in the Citrus Crush color on the wings of my little bee stamped image. I love the finer texture of the Ultra Fine and the mix of shades of yellow are so nice in this Citrus Crush jar. I think this simple accent was a fun finishing touch to my card.
The bee was stamped on white cardstock with a Versafine Black stamp pad and then embossed with clear embossing powder. The little yellow portions were colored with a Copic marker as were the wings and then I added the Tacky Glue and the Flower Soft to give this little guy some added goodness. Don't you just love that dimension and texture?

Lavender and Lace....what a gorgeous combination!

One of the cards I've made in this tomorrow's tutorial on Flower Soft TV is using our lovely Baskets and Barrows lavender toppers. I cut into it using Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels Eight.
Watch this weeks show to see how easy it is to embellish your topper using some cotton lace.
It makes a very traditional card that would be fit for any occassion.

Thinking of you-Flower Soft Coordinates with Spellbinders!

Good Morning! I want to share another sample with the Toppers that coordinate with the Nestabilities Dies. I don't have the Scalloped Hearts, but the nice thing is that you can cut them out!

I wanted to have a vintage theme to this card, so I paired the (Teddy Happy Birthday) downloadable topper with some Basic Grey Infuse Paper. The Lace, Pearls and small roses contribute to the victorian look of the card. I added some Ultrafine Toffee to one Bear. Additional Accents of Sweet Pea Flower Soft Complete the card!

Hope you have a wonderful week

Vicki

Gotta Love Lavender

If you watched Flower Soft TV yesterday or if you checked out right here on the Flower Soft blog, you know that Flower Soft released an exciting new product. These images are fun for several reasons, one being that you can print them on whatever papers you would like and another reason is because they coordinate with Spellbinders Nestabilities. What a great match! BUT...I didn't have this particular set of Nestabilities so I hand cut my scallop heart out, showing you that it is even more versatile then you thought. By handcutting it, I wasn't able to get that great embossed edge that you get with the Nestabilities but it is still nice.
I printed mine by setting my printer on the best setting and I printed it on Core'dinations cardstock, cardstock that has a slight texture to it, making for a rather rich look. I don't often work with purple and lavender so I was excited to create with this set so I could create a purple card.
This view shows you a close-up of where I added my Flower Soft accents on the sprigs of flowers. I used the Heather Flower Soft since it has a great mix of colors. You can also see that I highlighted the edges of my cut out heart with 3-D Glitter Fashion Paint by Tulip. I like this glitter because it gives a very subtle look of glitter while letting the underneath color show through.
I also added some of the Heather Flower Soft to portions of one of the butterflies in this printable set, cut that out and added it to my card with foam tape for added dimension.
Thanks for visiting, Linda Beeson, Design Team member

What can you do with WHITE!

When I visited the Flower Soft booth at Winter CHA, I discovered the Polar White Flower Soft and I knew it was my new "most favorite"! It is the best for snow and lace but I am the kind of gal where something has to be good for more then just two things. So...I got to thinking...what else could I use Polar White Flower Soft for? I have one big motto in my crafting and that is EXPERIMENT. And that is what I set out to do. I always figure that if I experiment, I might fail but I also just might find a new technique that I love.
Here is a peek at my finished project. I created two little tags to go along with the challenge at Little Red Wagon to create tags. Now, to explain what I decided to do. I got to thinking, "what would happen if I colored the frosting on my cupcakes with a really strong color, then gave that a good coat of the Tacky Glue and then a good coat of the Polar White Flower Soft?" Would my frosting just be white which would be alright or would the underneath color take over and show through?

Here is a closeup of what happened. I colored this frosting with a strong pink/red Copic marker. If you have worked with the Tacky Glue, you know that it goes on white. I gave that a very generous coat of the Polar White Flower Soft and left it to dry. This glue dries rather quickly so before long, I start to gently pat the Flower Soft into the glue to make sure lots of the little granules are going to stay when the glue dries. As it dried, I could see that my thoughts were going to work just perfectly, the frosting took on the underneath color. In a way, it almost looks like coconut on the frosting.

For this cupcake, I used a strong yellow Copic marker and then the Polar White Flower Soft. Doesn't this look almost good enough to eat?

Here is another view of the yellow tag.

Here is another view of the red tag. The stamps are from the $1 spot and they are by Studio G. I am so into cupcakes right now, the kind you really eat so some cupcake stamps are just perfect and make for some cute tags to attach to a gift.

Here is a card I made this week using Ultra Fine Raspberry Fizz and Sweet Pea Mix Flower Soft:

jmsio-happy-summer-copy.jpg
I stamped the tree with Walnut Stain ink. The sky was sponged with Tumbled Glass ink (tutorial for sponged sky –>HERE). I stamped the leaves and sponged the grass with Peeled Paint ink. I used both Ultra Fine Raspberry Fizz and Sweet Pea Flower Soft on tree and Ultra Fine Sage Flower Soft at the base of the tree for a little “grassy” texture.
I stamped the Cover A Card Leaves background stamp in Peeled paint ink directly onto the light blue cardstock to create my background.
