Friends brighten our lives....

One more winter card for this last Tuesday of the year!

I stamped and masked the Singers image (from Flower Soft's 'Moments in Time' stamp line), then stamped over the image lightly with Cover-a-Card stamps from Impression Obsession, and sponged the edges. The sentiment is from smARTworks. The image is watercolored with reinkers, then shaded with Derwent watercolor pencils. Here's a close-up on the girlies... I love these stamps!

I'll see you next year!

Hugs, Dina

All that glitters........

The new Gold and Silver Flower Soft is super sparkly and dimensional, chunky and glittery - very fun stuff! In digging through my box of Christmas stamps, I found this stamp (Camel and King), by Stamping Sensations - part of a nativity set I picked up as a full sheet at a convention several years ago.

The image is watercolored using reinkers, Derwent watercolor pencils, and an Inktense pencil as well. I used some small gold rhinestones and gold Peel-Offs as embellishments too. There is also Ocean Ultrafine Flower Soft on the collar of the king's robe. The background ink is Adirondack Denim - its color components tend to separate when oversaturated with water, which I think is sort of cool. See those couple areas of purple?

In the close-up you can see the gold trim better...

For even more card details you can visit my blog!

Merry Christmas to you -----

12 Bears of Christmas

I used the Flower Soft download of the 12 Bears of Christmas to create my little card.
The download includes background papers and twelve adorable little bears including the little circle for each day.  They print out so quick and easy.  They are great for ornaments with a front and back, a little card for each day or even a really cute banner.  I chose to make a card with one of them.  The background paper I picked is by BasicGrey.
Notice how totally cute her little dress, shoes and bow are with the Sunshine Yellow Flower Soft added.  LOVE the texture, the Flower Soft makes the card stand out.

Thanks for visiting, Linda Beeson, design team member

Charlie's Ark. In the garden.

Hi everyone,

hope you are all nearly ready for Santa, I am still working on it! In this busy world it's sometimes very difficult to find some "me time". If I get to have one wish for you all it would be to have some quality "me time" just for you. So if you've been very good you'll know that Santa has granted my wish to you!

Although the weather in the U.K. has been really dreadful, (snow, gales, freezing ice etc.) it has been quite lovely to be working with Charlie and Sally in the garden. The card in the picture was made from the Charlie's Ark Creative Kit, In the Garden. They are the most adorable characters and they come with an amazing selection of paper ribbons, sentiments, backing papers, toppers and each and every one of the eight sheets are beautifully die cut ready for you just to pop out and use. Everyone that has seen them comments on the quality of the die cutting, you have to see it to believe!

If you wanted to know how we make those cute little flower stems that are placed into the pot on this picture then tune in on Friday and it will all become clear.

Thanks to each and every one of you for tuning in to watch http://www.flower-soft.tv/ over the past few months, it has been so encouraging to all of the Flower Soft team to get your feed back on our shows.

All that remains is for me, on behalf of everyone in the team, to wish you all the blessings of the season and to have a wonderful Christmas and New Year.

Watch for the first show of 2011 which goes out on Friday 7th. January, until then, lots of love to each and every one of you,

Noreen.

Special Delivery

I love to color, so I'll be honest and say that preprinted and precolored images aren't my first choice when it comes to cardmaking, but I adore these Sepia Toppers from the Charlie's Ark line... these come 6 in a package, 3 each of 2 designs, and there are 4 holiday designs to choose from at this time. You can leave the cards as is, or alter them according to your style with inks, pencils, sponging, paints, or whatever it is that makes your work uniquely 'you'.

This is the set I used for my card, which is called Special Delivery. I just couldn't leave it alone - I was itching to color Charlie... so I pulled out my colored pencils (I prefer Prismacolors, but I have a variety of other brands thrown in my collection, too) and a sharpener. I used very sharp pencils and colored very lightly (my friend Jacki says 'tickle the paper'... if that gives you an idea of the pressure!). This is the result!
I added a little dimension using a large stylus, by embossing over a foam pad. I also made some cuts in a few places with a craft knife, and popped up corners for a 3-D effect. I used a glaze pen from Sakura in the window areas, and added a sprinkle of Polar White Flower Soft here and there. I embossed around the edges of the topper too, using a Scor-Pal. Those details show better in the photo below...

I hope I've given you some ideas! Cheers - Dina

Little Friend

I'd like to share one of the cards I made using a Christmas set from the Moments in Time line called Little Friend. I love the sentiment of this image, and look - she is feeding the bird chocolate chip cookies! So cute. The image is watercolored with Ranger reinkers, which I mixed with a drop or two of Shimmerz paints.
I used Polar White Flower Soft on the trim of the girl's hat and boots, and sprinkled some prisma glitter in those areas while the glue was still wet. Can you see it in the close-ups below? I love that extra sparkle.

This set is part of the prize packages up for grabs for our Blog Hop and Sprinkle Challenge this week - there's still a little time left to participate if you haven't yet! We'd love to have you join us!

Monday, December 6, 2010

Are you almost ready for Christmas? If so, I commend you! I'm still not even out of the start block, having maybe two gifts purchased and absolutely NO sweets made! My mother is the Cookie Artisan and I have to tell you that in the last week, she's already got dozens and dozens made. It is perplexing to me, how she manages to make her cookies perfectly uniform in size and shape, with each and every cookie looking like it was made in a cookie factory! Sooo that being said, I steer away from Cookie baking and am left with the task of making the Candy! I always make a gorgeous Brown Sugar Fudge, along with Chocolate Pecan Fudge, Skor Bars, Almond, Peppermint and Cranberry Bark, Chocolate Peanut Crunchies (those fabulous cookies that you make my dipping Chow Mein Noodles and Peanuts in Chocolate!) , Buckeyes and this year I may try to make some Butter cream Balls! I do have the house decorated and tidy, so that's a bonus. Additionally I've only managed to create about 30 Christmas Cards this year, so I'll be finishing up the additional cards this week so that I can get them mailed out.

Speaking of Christmas Cards, isn't this Jolly Elf the sweetest? I thought he'd be perfect to sit on a bed of Polar White Flower Soft Snow!

If you've followed my blog over the years, you'll know that I am a fan of creating snowy scenes....I would say that the Polar White Flower Soft is my absolute fave!!! It just gives that extra bit of WOW! to your creations!

Hope you have a great week!

Vicki

Happy holidays!

Hi, everyone, it's Dina.....! It's my first time posting over here, so I feel a little funny... but you'll be seeing me every Tuesday here at the Flower Soft blog now, so I hope you like what you see! Since we're moving into December (where did the year go?), I thought I'd share a holiday card - this is a stamp from Impression Obsession called Goldie on Ornament. I colored the image with Prismacolor pencils.Because I didn't want to lose the detail of the ears, I used the Ultra-fine Sand Flower Soft a bit more sparingly than normal so some of the shading and lines would show through. I used Polar White Flower Soft on the rim and ball of his hat...I've found that I like the look of a couple of layers of Polar White - after the first round is dry, you can go back and add more glue and Flower Soft over the top for more dimension. (Note - do wait until the glue from your first layer is dry, or you will end up with a fluffy mess at the tip of your glue bottle. Don't ask me how I know.)

Happy crafting!
Dina

Just a Touch..............

Even just a little dash of flower soft can enhance an image that you're working with. As you can see with this card, it took very little flower soft to create additional dimension. I think Misery Stella looks like she's having a Monday! Speaking of which, I am running REALLY late this morning so I'll make this short and sweet. I used Ultrafine Ocean, one of the new colours from Flowersoft, as well as Ultrafine Sage on my card. In addition, I created the pretty gold border with the fun peel off stickers that you can find here

Ageless Elegance

Ok so who is moving the days faster than they were before? It is totally unreal how fast the pace is racing towards the holidays! Or is it really just me that feels like that? I hope not!

Anyway, back to what I should be talking about, Vintage Christmas!

The Vintage Christmas range of toppers and taglets have the most amazing timeless elegance that continues to create the most gorgeous cards you will be forever proud of. The images stand out from other Christmas ranges because of the quality of the design, the art work is stunning, and even after having this range out for quite a few years it is still as popular among our customers as it always was.

The range consists of the Vintage Christmas Lamposts which have two designs in, five of each design. So amazingly you get ten fantastic lamposts to work with.

The Vintage Christmas Taglets come in two strips, five of each, so if you were using one image to make a card, you could get THIRTY cards!

The other toppers in the range are our Vintage Christmas Toppers, again you get ten images, this time each one is a different design for you to create your own individual masterpiece.

I really would be hard pressed to say which pack I like the best, every image is truly gorgeous.

Tune in to see what Sheena does to place her own individual style onto the Vintage Lampost and to see the other cards in the gallery to give you even more inspiration!

Hope you enjoy seeing this weeks edition as much as we did making it.

Take care until next time

Lots of love, Noreen.

Counting Down to Christmas!

Christmas is coming faster than I can handle! I'll probably be sharing a lot of Holiday Projects with you between now and then as I'm trying to get everything completed in time!

One of my Best Girlfriends in the whole wide world came down for a visit last weekend. She always manages to come with a very cool project idea and quite often the ideas come from another good friend. I'm not quite sure where Kim got this idea, but it's an altered clipboard advent Calendar. Do you see the panel where the tags seem to be hanging freestyle? Well behind that panel is a small circular piece of lightweight metal, from which you can hang the tags, that have tiny magnets attached to the back. Most of the letters, tags and accessories are cut with my Cricut and the Christmas and Story Book Cartridges. I used the Silver Flower Soft to create that pretty line of tinsel between the stripe and tree patterned paper. Silver AND Gold are the two newest colours in the Flower Soft Line. Except for the cutting, this project was relatively easy to make...........now just to find a girly girl to give it to!

To those of my American friends celebrating Thanksgiving later this week, I wish you a safe and happy Holiday!

Happy Crafting!
